Summary

About the Infrastructure Advisory team

The Infrastructure Advisory team (IA team) provides advisory services in new investments, acquisitions and sales related to both Japanese and foreign infrastructure business, concession business, PPP/PFI projects, ranging from basic research to investment, acquisitions and bidding strategies, as well as financial modeling, capital investment support and executions.

  • Electric and gas companies
  • Renewable energy companies, EPC and O&M providers
  • General contractors/developers
  • Financial institutions (governments, mega banks, mega trusts, regional financial institutions, foreign invested)
  • Leasing companies
  • Infrastructure funds, investment funds
  • Global infrastructure asset operators and other foreign corporations seeking Japanese market entry
  • Transportation infrastructure (airports, toll roads and bridges, ports, railways and LRTs, etc.)
  • Renewable energy (offshore wind, water, solar, wood biomass, etc.)
  • Waterworks and sewage work
  • Educational/sports facilities (arenas, stadiums, racetracks, etc.)

Duties

  • M&A, fund raising support (project financing), feasibility studies, due diligence, financial modeling, valuation and other services related to domestic and overseas infrastructure businesses/asset and PPP/PFI projects (similar to those offered by boutique investment banks and advisory firms specializing in the infrastructure sector)
  • Financial advisory for domestic and overseas airport and toll road concession businesses
  • Financial advisory for domestic renewable (green) energy businesses
  • Support for sales or acquisition of domestic renewable (brown) energy businesses
  • Support for the formation of infrastructure funds
  • Support for foreign companies entering the Japanese infrastructure market (inbound)
  • Support for Japanese companies investing or acquiring foreign infrastructure business (outbound)
  • Due diligence, financial modeling, valuation and coordination

Experience & Qualifications (One of the following is acceptable)

  • Project finance lender/borrower or financial advisor
  • Real estate non-recourse loan lender/borrower or financial advisor
  • Experience in asset management at a real estate asset management firm
  • Project investment or project management (monitoring) at a general trading company or general contractors
  • Experience investing in Japanese or foreign energy businesses/assets at an electric or gas companies
  • Development or operation of infrastructure assets such as renewable energy facilities and power stations in Japan or overseas
  • Investment experience or project management (monitoring) for a Japanese or foreign concession business
  • Investment experience, planning experience, or project management (monitoring) for a Japanese or foreign infrastructure business
  • Experience at a consulting firm
  • Certification as a certified public accountant, certified public tax accountant, or project manager
  • Business English (Beginner level English and other skills and experience also welcome)
